Recent News Concerning The Wired Bean
It has been no secret that The Wired Bean has been dealing with some tough times, so we wanted to fill everyone in on some new developments. First, thanks to all you who have been supporting and standing by us through these hard times. We know working around a part-time schedule is difficult and sometimes frustrating.
To help better understand why we went to part-time hours, a brief overview of the past 6 months is helpful. The Wired Bean was given to the non-profit ministry we all know as The Watershed. It did not take long to realize that The Wired Bean was too much to take on in its full-time capacity and therefore it was decided to drop the hours to part-time and see if The Watershed could still make it work. As everyone knows The Wired Bean closed briefly for a week back in April and then reopened with the current part-time hours. This brings us to the present situation.
It was thought that by having the reduced hours of operation and overhead The Wired Bean would be able to at least break even and continue too be a part of the ministry offered to the community by The Watershed. Unfortunately this is has not been the case and The Wired Bean will close its doors for good on June 13th.
Although this is sad news for many of us, there is a silver lining to it all. The Watershed will continue it ministries to the community through: concerts, speakers, event coordinating, rental space, dramas and other community based activities. There are also plans to bring some of the components of The Wired Bean into The Watershed. This means a smaller scaled down coffee bar will be added in The Watershed. We are excited about the new direction the Lord is leading The Watershed into and have a fresh vision and focus to better serve Lexington and the surrounding area.
